Keeping a regular preventative maintenance schedule with your child’s hygienist and dentist at Jupiter Kids Dentistry & Orthodontics helps your child prevent not only tooth decay and periodontal disease but also avoid costly procedures and extra time in the hygiene chair.
TEETH CLEANING
While dental emergencies can strike anyone, anytime, our patients who commit to regular preventive care appointments usually experience fewer problems over time. Professional cleanings with a registered dental hygienist allow us to take a proactive approach to your child’s dental health and address issues while they are small.
HOME CARE
Maintaining a healthy smile depends on what happens between your child’s visits with us. Good home care habits can be established by anyone committed to carving out a few minutes each day. Like regular exercise, consistency is the key to building a healthy habit. Brushing twice a day for at least two minutes and flossing once a day are the standard for ideal home care.
PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY
Our doctors believe a trip to the dentist should be fun, lighthearted, and not something to fear. The way your child is exposed to dentistry lays the groundwork for how they view dental care and dental visits for the rest of their lives.
INFANT ORAL EXAMS
Studies have shown that the earlier a child receives their first dental exam, the less dental treatment was needed during their youth. We recommend oral exams for children when their first tooth erupts.
PEDIATRIC CLEANINGS & EXAMS
Routine cleanings and exams are necessary to make sure your child’s teeth stay healthy throughout childhood. Our doctors recommend two cleanings a year to maintain optimal oral health.
DIGITAL X-RAYS
Digital x-rays help diagnose cavities while they are tiny, often allowing for less invasive treatment. If they are caught early enough, decay may be stopped with some minor changes to your child’s homecare routine.
FLUORIDE
Topical fluoride treatments help keep your child’s teeth cavity-free between visits by strengthening the enamel. Depending on your child’s age, the fluoride may be brushed onto your child’s teeth or put into a foam tray and allowed to sit on their teeth. For younger children, a fluoride varnish is brushed onto the teeth. Fluoride varnish hardens when it comes in contact with saliva, forming a hard film that is brushed off later that evening.
FRENECTOMIES
Frenectomies are a valuable procedure that corrects tongue-tie and prevents future periodontal problems caused by tissue pulling on the lip or gums. Our doctors can perform this procedure in-office with just a little anesthetic.
PEDIATRIC SEALANTS
Sealants help protect your child’s teeth from decay by filling in the grooved biting surfaces of your child’s teeth, making them easier to clean. Our doctors apply this light-cured material in minutes, and the procedure requires no anesthesia.
SILVER DIAMINE FLUORIDE (SDF)
Silver Diamine Fluoride, or SDF, is a safe, noninvasive treatment that can stop decay in its tracks postponing the need for a permanent restoration, at least for a little while.
PEDIATRIC CLEANINGS & EXAMS
Routine cleanings and exams are necessary to make sure your child’s teeth stay healthy throughout childhood. Our doctors recommend two cleanings a year to maintain optimal oral health.
ORTHODONTICS
For most patients, straight teeth equal a beautiful smile. But did you know that a properly aligned bite is also healthier? Overlapped, crooked, or rotated teeth create a daily cleaning challenge. Helping even a couple straggling teeth find their proper place can leave your child with a healthier mouth.
EARLY INTERVENTION
Non-extraction orthodontics can start as early as 5-8 years of age. The best time to address a dentofacial orthopedic problem is before adult teeth start coming in.
TEENS ORTHODONTICS
Treatment for common orthodontic problems begins around age 9-14, when most permanent teeth are in place. Conditions treated earlier in your child’s growth allows predictable and more stable results.
SURESMILE® CLEAR ALIGNERS
The SureSmile® is a series of clear overlay templates – called aligners – that have been generated by computer simulation to gradually move the teeth.
